A well-established school is seeking a dedicated ASD Support Assistant to join their vibrant primary phase, providing specialist support for pupils on the autism spectrum. This pivotal role involves working within a nurturing environment, implementing structured routines, sensory strategies, and communication support to foster the development and well-being of young learners. We are looking for an individual who can contribute to a positive educational experience, with opportunities for long-term, daily supply, short-term, or permanent contracts available, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to primary pupils with ASD.
* Implement individualised learning plans and structured activities effectively.
* Assist with the development and application of sensory strategies within the provision.
* Facilitate communication using a variety of appropriate methods and tools.
* Collaborate closely with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach.
* Support pupils in navigating their daily school routines and transitions.
About You
* You possess a genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of primary pupils on the autism spectrum.
* Prior experience working with children with ASD in an educational setting is essential.
* A strong understanding of sensory processing and communication needs associated with autism is required.
* You demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* You are patient, empathetic, resilient, and proactive in your approach to support.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is paramount.
