This is an exceptional opportunity to join a thriving school in Walsall, West Midlands, as a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant. We are seeking a compassionate and proactive individual to provide bespoke support for a primary-aged pupil with complex needs, which may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, or sensory impairments. This pivotal role involves fostering a nurturing environment where a pupil can flourish, with various contract options including long-term, daily supply, and permanent positions available to start as soon as possible, offering a daily rate of £85 - £110.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the individual needs of a primary pupil.
* Build a strong, trusting rapport to foster a safe and encouraging learning environment.
* Effectively implement specific targets and strategies outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Collaborate closely with external therapists and specialists to ensure integrated support.
* Assist the class teacher in adapting learning materials and activities to meet diverse needs.
* Monitor and record the pupil's progress, celebrating achievements and identifying next steps.
About You
* You possess demonstrable experience supporting children with complex special educational needs, such as ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* You have a natural ability to build positive relationships with young people, their families, and colleagues.
* A strong understanding of EHCPs and their practical implementation within a school setting is essential.
* You are a proactive and patient individual with an unwavering commitment to pupil progress and well-being.
* Excellent communication skills allow you to effectively liaise with a range of professionals, including therapists.
* You are adaptable and resilient, capable of responding positively to daily challenges and successes.
