This challenging and rewarding role involves providing tailored support to primary pupils on the autism spectrum, helping them to navigate their learning journey and develop essential life skills. You will be instrumental in implementing structured routines, sensory strategies, and effective communication support within a nurturing environment. We are offering flexible contract options including long-term, short-term, daily supply, and permanent positions, with a competitive daily rate ranging from £90 to £115.
Key Responsibilities
* Facilitate the learning and development of primary pupils diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder within a specialist setting.
* Implement individualised structured routines and visual schedules to create a predictable and reassuring environment.
* Apply effective sensory strategies and interventions to support pupils' regulation and engagement throughout the school day.
* Develop and utilise diverse communication aids and techniques to enhance pupils' expressive and receptive language skills.
* Collaborate closely with the class teacher and other professionals to adapt learning materials and create inclusive educational experiences.
* Monitor pupil progress, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to individual education plans and assessments.
About You
* You possess a genuine passion for supporting primary-aged pupils with special educational needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum.
* You demonstrate previous experience working within an SEN environment, ideally with pupils presenting with ASD.
* You have a proactive and patient approach, understanding the nuances of communication and behaviour associated with autism.
* You are adept at quickly building rapport and fostering trust with vulnerable pupils, promoting their independence and well-being.
* You are committed to continuous professional development and eager to learn new strategies to enhance pupil outcomes.
* You hold relevant qualifications or professional development in supporting pupils with SEN, or are willing to undertake further training.
