We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist setting, offering crucial support to young learners with social, emotional, and mental health needs. We have various contract options available, including long-term, short-term, daily supply, and permanent positions, offering flexibility to suit the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to primary pupils with diverse SEMH needs.
* Implement effective de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations calmly and constructively.
* Act as a mentor, guiding pupils through emotional regulation and social interactions.
* Cultivate strong, positive relationships with pupils, building trust and encouraging their personal growth.
* Assist the class teacher in preparing engaging learning materials and classroom activities.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) for supported pupils.
About You
* You possess previous experience supporting primary-aged pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
* A proven ability to apply de-escalation strategies effectively in a school setting is essential.
* You demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, connecting well with both pupils and staff.
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach is vital when working with vulnerable learners.
* You are proactive, adaptable, and committed to making a tangible difference in children's lives.
* Holds an enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for a new one.
