A highly regarded school in Reading is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher to join their specialist secondary provision immediately. This challenging and incredibly rewarding role involves re-engaging disaffected learners, skilfully managing complex behaviours, and delivering a thoughtfully modified curriculum designed to meet individual pupil needs. You will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and structured environment where pupils can thrive academically and emotionally, with opportunities for long-term, daily supply, or permanent engagement offering a competitive daily rate between £150 and £250.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and deliver an adaptive curriculum that caters to the diverse learning styles and needs of SEMH pupils.
* Implement proactive and reactive behaviour management strategies effectively within a specialist setting.
* Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages positive pupil engagement.
* Collaborate closely with support staff and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to pupil development.
* Monitor and assess pupil progress across academic and social-emotional domains, providing regular feedback.
* Contribute actively to whole-school initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
About You
* You possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and demonstrable experience working with secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs.
* You exhibit exceptional resilience and an empathetic approach to managing challenging behaviours.
* You are deeply passionate about re-engaging learners who have faced educational barriers or disaffection.
* You have a thorough understanding of differentiated instruction and curriculum adaptation for specialist provisions.
* You are an excellent communicator, capable of building strong rapport with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
* You are committed to continuous professional development and reflective practice within an SEMH context.
