A progressive school is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide crucial, individualised assistance to a primary-aged pupil with complex needs, which may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, or sensory impairments. This vital role involves fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment where a pupil can thrive, implementing tailored support strategies, and contributing significantly to their developmental journey. We are flexible regarding contract length, offering options for long-term commitment, daily supply, or a permanent position, with an immediate start available.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver dedicated one-to-one support, empowering the pupil to engage fully with their learning.
* Cultivate a strong, trusting rapport with the pupil, understanding their unique communication styles.
* Proactively implement personalised targets outlined within the pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Collaborate closely with therapists and other external professionals to coordinate integrated support.
* Assist with personal care and mobility as required, ensuring the pupil's comfort and dignity.
* Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere, adapting resources to meet specific needs.
About You
* You possess proven experience supporting children with complex Special Educational Needs, including ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* An empathetic and patient approach is central to your professional practice.
* You demonstrate excellent communication skills, enabling effective liaison with pupils, staff, and external agencies.
* Your commitment to a child-centred approach ensures every decision prioritises the pupil's well-being and progress.
* You are proactive, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
* A relevant Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent experience, is highly desirable.
