This exciting opportunity is for a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant within a well-established secondary school specialising in special educational needs. You will provide crucial, individualised support to a secondary pupil with complex needs, facilitating their access to the curriculum and promoting essential life skills. This role involves working closely with the student to achieve their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, fostering independence and confidence daily. We are offering flexible contract options including long-term, daily supply, and permanent positions, with a competitive daily rate of £85 - £110, for an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide targeted 1:1 support to a secondary pupil with complex special educational needs.
* Implement and monitor specific objectives outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Facilitate the pupil's full access to the curriculum, adapting materials as required.
* Encourage and develop independence and self-help skills within the school environment.
* Support the pupil's social and emotional development, fostering positive interactions.
* Collaborate effectively with teachers and other professionals to ensure a holistic support approach.
About You
* You possess previous experience working with children or young people with complex special educational needs.
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting individual learning journeys is essential.
* You demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building strong rapport with pupils.
* The ability to work proactively and independently, while also being a strong team player, is highly valued.
* You are committed to making a tangible difference in a pupil's educational and personal development.
* Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support are advantageous, but not strictly required for the right candidate.
