A forward-thinking primary school is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide tailored assistance to a pupil with complex needs, which may include ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairment. This crucial position offers flexible contract options, ranging from long-term daily supply to a permanent role, and is available for an immediate start. You will play a pivotal part in the pupil's daily learning journey, fostering their development within a supportive educational environment, with a competitive daily rate between £85 and £110.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide intensive one-to-one support to a primary-aged pupil, addressing their specific educational and personal requirements.
* Develop a strong, positive rapport with the pupil, establishing trust and ensuring their comfort and engagement.
* Implement specific targets and strategies effectively, as outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Liaise collaboratively with external therapists, medical professionals, and other specialists to ensure a holistic support approach.
* Assist with personal care, mobility, and communication methods, promoting independence where appropriate.
* Monitor and record the pupil's progress regularly, contributing valuable observations to reviews and planning meetings.
About You
* You possess demonstrable experience of working with children presenting complex special educational needs, such as ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* A genuine passion for nurturing the individual growth and potential of primary school pupils with SEN is evident in your approach.
* Excellent communication skills are essential for effective interaction with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
* You exhibit a proactive, patient, and incredibly empathetic disposition in all your professional interactions.
* A solid understanding of EHCPs and their practical application within a school setting is required.
