1:1 SEN Support Assistant

Join a supportive school in Shropshire where you will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil with complex special educational needs. This vital role focuses on fostering the pupil's development and ensuring their access to an inclusive learning environment, supporting needs which may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, or sensory impairment. We are seeking a compassionate individual for various contract types, including long-term, daily supply, or permanent positions, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide highly individualised 1:1 support tailored to a specific primary pupil's needs.
* Develop a strong, trusting rapport with the pupil to facilitate their engagement in learning.
* Assist in the precise implementation of educational and therapeutic targets outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Collaborate effectively with external therapists and other professionals to integrate specialist interventions.
* Support the pupil with their personal care and mobility needs as required throughout the school day.
* Monitor and accurately record the pupil's progress, contributing valuable insights to ongoing assessments.
About You
* Possess proven experience supporting primary-aged children with complex special educational needs, such as ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* Demonstrate exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience when working in a dynamic educational setting.
* Exhibit strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with pupils, colleagues, and external specialists.
* Show a genuine ability to build meaningful relationships and foster trust with young learners.
* Be proactive in adapting support strategies continually to meet individual pupil requirements.
