A well-established school in the Shrewsbury area is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their specialist provision, commencing as soon as possible. This rewarding role involves providing essential support to secondary pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, fostering a positive learning environment. You will play a crucial part in their educational journey, with daily rates ranging from £95 to £120, and opportunities for long-term, daily supply, short-term, or even permanent contracts are available.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide targeted support to secondary pupils experiencing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
* Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation within the classroom and specialist provision.
* Facilitate the reintegration of pupils into their learning, encouraging engagement and participation.
* Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic pupil development.
* Support pupils with their academic work across a range of subjects, adapting approaches as necessary.
About You
* Possess previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, ideally within a secondary setting.
* Demonstrate a genuine passion for making a positive impact on pupils' lives.
* Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with pupils and colleagues.
* Show resilience, patience, and a proactive approach to supporting complex needs.
* Hold a strong understanding of various behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
* Be adaptable and flexible, prepared to work across different learning environments as required.
