An inclusive school is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide vital assistance to a primary-aged pupil with complex needs, including ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairment. You will play a crucial part in enabling their full participation and progress within a supportive educational setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish a strong, positive rapport with the designated pupil, fostering trust and engagement.
* Effectively implement and monitor personalised Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
* Collaborate closely with class teachers and external therapists to ensure a cohesive support approach.
* Adapt learning materials and environmental provisions to meet specific individual needs.
* Promote the pupil's independence and self-advocacy skills throughout the school day.
* Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to review meetings.
About You
* Possess demonstrable experience supporting children with complex Special Educational Needs, such as ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* Exhibit exceptional patience, empathy, and a resilient approach to daily challenges.
* Demonstrate strong communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with pupils, staff, and parents.
* Hold a comprehensive understanding of EHCPs and their practical implementation.
* Be proactive and adaptable, able to respond dynamically to individual pupil requirements.
* Committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
