This is an exceptional opportunity to join a highly regarded school in the East of England as a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant. You will provide crucial, individualised assistance to a secondary pupil navigating complex learning needs, ensuring they can access their curriculum effectively. The role focuses on delivering bespoke support outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), fostering their independence and developing essential life skills. We are looking for someone available to start as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver tailored 1:1 support to a secondary pupil with complex special educational needs.
* Implement strategies and interventions as detailed within the pupil's EHCP.
* Facilitate the pupil's engagement with and access to the full secondary curriculum.
* Encourage the development of vital independence and self-help skills.
* Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and external professionals to ensure holistic support.
* Monitor pupil progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to the class teacher.
About You
* Possess prior experience working with secondary-aged pupils with complex special educational needs.
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and their implementation.
* Exhibit a genuine passion for making a significant difference to a pupil's learning journey.
* Show initiative and adaptability in supporting individual learning styles and challenges.
* Hold relevant qualifications or professional development in Special Educational Needs (SEN).
* Be a patient, empathetic, and resilient individual committed to pupil well-being and progress.
