We are seeking a dedicated ASD Support Assistant to join a thriving school in South West London. This crucial role involves providing specialist support to primary pupils on the autism spectrum within a dedicated provision. You will play a vital part in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Both long-term and permanent opportunities are available, alongside flexible daily and short-term supply options. The daily rate for this rewarding position ranges from £90 to £115.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement structured routines and clear visual schedules to support pupil predictability and independence.
* Apply effective sensory strategies to help pupils regulate and engage positively within the learning environment.
* Facilitate and enhance communication, utilising a range of aids and techniques tailored to individual needs.
* Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support, adapting learning materials to suit diverse pupil requirements.
* Contribute to the creation of an inclusive and nurturing classroom atmosphere.
* Work collaboratively with class teachers and SENCOs to monitor progress and adjust support plans.
About You
* Possess prior experience supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
* Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of various SEN needs and effective support strategies.
* Exhibit exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience in a dynamic educational setting.
* Show strong communication and interpersonal skills, building positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
* Be proactive and adaptable, able to respond effectively to evolving pupil needs and classroom demands.
* Hold a genuine passion for making a significant difference in the lives of young learners with special educational needs.
