An inclusive school in East London is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide focused support for a primary-aged pupil with complex needs, including ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairment. This vital role involves building a strong rapport and making a significant positive impact on a young person's educational journey. We are open to discussions around various contract types, including long-term, daily supply, or permanent positions, offering a competitive daily rate of £85 - £110, with an immediate start available.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated and empathetic 1:1 support to a primary pupil with complex special educational needs.
* Cultivate a strong, positive rapport with the pupil, fostering an environment of trust and understanding.
* Actively implement personalised learning targets and strategies outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Collaborate effectively with class teachers and external therapists to ensure a cohesive support approach.
* Monitor and record the pupil’s progress, adapting support techniques as necessary to meet evolving needs.
* Support the pupil's participation in classroom activities and encourage their social and emotional development.
About You
* You possess a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
* You have prior experience working effectively with primary-aged pupils, particularly those with complex needs.
* An understanding of ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments is highly desirable.
* You demonstrate excellent communication skills, capable of liaising with pupils, staff, and professionals.
* You are patient, resilient, and proactive in adapting your approach to individual pupil requirements.
