At an ambitious primary school in South West London, we are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide tailored assistance to a pupil with complex needs, which may include ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairment. This vital role involves offering consistent, individualised support within a nurturing educational environment. You will have the chance to significantly impact a child's learning journey, fostering their development and independence. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible, with flexible contract options including long-term, daily supply, or permanent engagement.
Key Responsibilities
* Cultivate a strong, positive rapport with the designated pupil, fostering trust and engagement.
* Diligently implement personalised Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, monitoring progress effectively.
* Collaborate closely with external therapists and specialists to integrate therapeutic strategies into daily support.
* Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the pupil's specific needs and learning style.
* Provide essential personal care support with dignity and respect, as required.
* Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for the pupil.
About You
* Possess demonstrable experience supporting pupils with complex Special Educational Needs, such as ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* Exhibit exceptional patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting individual pupil progress.
* Demonstrate strong communication skills, effectively engaging with pupils, staff, and external professionals.
* Be proactive, resourceful, and capable of adapting quickly to evolving pupil needs.
* Hold a relevant qualification or have significant experience in a similar primary school support role.
* Show a commitment to continuous professional development and best practice in SEN support.
