1:1 SEN Support Assistant

A highly regarded school in Essex is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide tailored assistance to a primary-aged pupil with complex needs, which may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, or sensory impairments. This vital role involves offering individualised support, fostering a positive learning environment, and helping the pupil achieve their full potential. We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible, with flexible contract options including long-term, daily supply, or even a permanent position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary pupil with special educational needs.
* Develop a strong, positive rapport, ensuring the pupil feels safe and understood.
* Implement specific targets and strategies outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Collaborate effectively with external therapists and specialists to integrate their guidance.
* Facilitate access to the curriculum and ensure engagement in learning activities.
* Encourage the pupil's independence and foster their social and emotional development.
About You
* You possess demonstrable experience supporting children with complex Special Educational Needs, such as ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* A genuine passion for making a significant difference to a child's educational journey is essential.
* You exhibit exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building trusting relationships.
* Resilience, empathy, and a patient approach define your professional manner.
* You are adept at working both autonomously and as a valuable member of a supportive school team.
* An ability to adapt to varying situations and proactive problem-solving skills are highly valued.
