We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to join an inclusive school in the Hitchin area of Hertfordshire. This vital role involves providing tailored assistance to a primary-aged pupil with complex needs, including ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairment. You will play a crucial part in fostering a positive learning environment and enabling the pupil to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary pupil with complex special educational needs.
* Build a strong, positive rapport with the pupil to encourage engagement and trust.
* Successfully implement and monitor individualised targets outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Collaborate effectively with a range of professionals, including therapists, to ensure a holistic approach.
* Assist with personal care and mobility requirements as necessary, maintaining dignity and respect.
* Foster an accessible and stimulating learning environment tailored to the pupil's specific needs.
About You
* Previous experience supporting children with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN) is essential.
* Demonstrate a deep understanding of different learning styles and communication methods.
* Possess exceptional patience, empathy, and a resilient approach to challenges.
* Exhibit strong communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with pupils, staff, and parents.
* Be proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous professional development.
* Hold relevant qualifications or professional training in SEN support.
