A dedicated primary school in East London is seeking a compassionate PMLD Support Assistant to join their specialist provision. This long-term, permanent role, commencing as soon as possible, involves providing crucial support to primary-aged pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties. You will be instrumental in fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive, with a daily rate ranging from £95 to £120.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide direct individual and group support to pupils with PMLD, adapting to their specific educational and personal needs.
* Assist with personal care, including feeding, changing, and toileting, always ensuring dignity and respect.
* Facilitate engaging sensory stimulation activities designed to enhance pupil interaction and development.
* Implement tailored therapy programmes under the guidance of class teachers and external specialists.
* Support effective communication and interaction strategies appropriate for pupils with complex learning difficulties.
* Contribute proactively to maintaining a safe, stimulating, and highly organised classroom environment.
About You
* Possess a genuine passion for supporting children with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
* Demonstrate prior experience working with pupils with SEN, preferably PMLD, within a primary school setting.
* Exhibit excellent patience, empathy, and resilience when responding to diverse pupil requirements.
* Be confident and capable in delivering personal care with a professional and sensitive approach.
* Hold strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and therapists.
