A well-established school in the East of England is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide crucial, individualised support. This challenging yet incredibly rewarding role involves working closely with a primary-aged pupil who has complex needs, which may include ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairment. You will be instrumental in fostering their development, building a strong rapport, and facilitating their access to learning. This position offers a daily rate between £85 and £110, with opportunities for long-term engagement or permanent placement starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consistent and dedicated 1:1 support to a primary pupil with diverse and complex special educational needs.
* Implement individualised Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets effectively to foster progress.
* Develop a strong, positive rapport with the pupil, understanding their unique communication and engagement styles.
* Collaborate closely with external therapists and specialists, integrating their strategies into daily support.
* Facilitate the pupil's access to the curriculum and wider school activities, adapting materials as required.
* Support the pupil's personal care needs with dignity and sensitivity, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
About You
* You possess demonstrable experience supporting children with complex special educational needs, such as ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* You are adept at building meaningful connections and fostering trust with pupils who have diverse communication requirements.
* A clear understanding of EHCPs and the ability to contribute to and implement individualised learning plans is essential.
* Your communication skills are exceptional, enabling effective liaison with pupils, staff, and external professionals.
* You approach challenges with resilience, patience, and a deeply empathetic outlook.
