A thriving school is seeking a dedicated ASD Support Assistant to join their specialist SEN setting, supporting secondary students on the autism spectrum. This rewarding role involves facilitating social communication, expertly managing sensory needs, and effectively supporting curriculum access for pupils. We are looking for individuals available for a variety of contract types, including long-term placements, shorter-term engagements, or daily supply, offering a competitive rate of £90 - £115 per day.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to secondary students on the autism spectrum.
* Facilitate effective social communication skills development for pupils.
* Implement strategies to manage and respond to sensory needs within the learning environment.
* Assist students in accessing and engaging with the secondary curriculum across various subjects.
* Foster an inclusive atmosphere that encourages independence and personal growth.
* Collaborate proactively with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure holistic student development.
About You
* You possess a genuine passion for supporting young people with special educational needs.
* Demonstrable experience working with students on the autism spectrum is essential.
* You are patient, empathetic, and resilient in a dynamic educational setting.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills allow you to build rapport with students and colleagues.
* You demonstrate an ability to adapt your approach to meet individual student needs effectively.
* A proactive and collaborative attitude towards teamwork is highly valued.
