An inclusive school in a vibrant South East community is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to enrich their primary phase team. This vital role involves providing tailored, individualised support to a specific pupil with complex special educational needs, which may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, or sensory impairments. You will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive learning environment, empowering the pupil to thrive both academically and socially within the school community.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary phase pupil with complex special educational needs.
* Establish a strong, positive rapport to build trust and encourage engagement.
* Implement and monitor individualised Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets effectively.
* Collaborate closely with external therapists and professionals to integrate specialist strategies.
* Facilitate the pupil's access to the curriculum and participation in school activities.
* Foster the development of independence, communication skills, and social interaction.
About You
* Possess demonstrable experience supporting children with complex special educational needs, such as ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* Exhibit a genuine passion for making a significant difference to a pupil's educational journey.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for building relationships.
* Show exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience in a dynamic educational setting.
* Be adept at working collaboratively within a supportive school team and with external professionals.
