This pivotal role involves providing essential support to pupils with complex learning needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and speech and language difficulties. You will contribute significantly to creating an enriching and accessible learning environment, fostering independence and progress for every child.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored 1:1 support to individual pupils, adapting approaches to meet specific learning styles.
* Facilitate small group interventions, reinforcing learning objectives across various subjects.
* Assist pupils with their communication and social development, encouraging positive interactions.
* Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviours effectively and promote a safe atmosphere.
* Collaborate closely with class teachers and therapists to support individualised learning programmes.
* Document pupil progress and contribute to reviews of EHCPs and personal development goals.
About You
* Possess a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
* Demonstrate previous experience working with primary-aged pupils with complex learning difficulties.
* Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills, building rapport with pupils, staff, and parents.
* Show initiative and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment.
* Hold relevant qualifications or demonstrable experience in SEN support.
