An ambitious primary school, specialising in SEN, is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide tailored assistance to a pupil with complex needs, which may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, or sensory impairment. This vital position involves developing a strong rapport with the pupil, meticulously implementing their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, and working collaboratively with external therapists. We are considering candidates for immediate starts, with flexible contract options including long-term, daily supply, and permanent engagements.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing comprehensive 1:1 support to a pupil with complex Special Educational Needs.
* Cultivating a positive and trusting relationship to ensure the pupil feels safe and supported.
* Meticulously implementing targets and strategies outlined in the pupil’s EHCP.
* Collaborating effectively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external therapists.
* Assisting with personal care, mobility, and communication aids as required.
* Documenting the pupil's progress and contributions towards their individualised goals.
About You
* You possess proven experience supporting children with complex SEND, including ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* Your approach is characterised by exceptional patience, empathy, and unwavering resilience.
* You demonstrate outstanding communication skills, adaptable for pupils, colleagues, and parents.
* You are adept at working autonomously while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
* A strong understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and their implementation is essential.
* You hold relevant qualifications or professional development in supporting pupils with SEND.
