We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to join an inclusive school located in the vibrant East London area. This vital role involves providing tailored, comprehensive support to a secondary pupil with complex special educational needs. You will be instrumental in helping the pupil access the curriculum effectively, working towards their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to foster independence and develop essential life skills, with contracts available on a long-term basis, daily supply, or potentially permanent, offering between £85 and £110 per day, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a secondary pupil with complex special educational needs.
* Implement and monitor individual EHCP targets to ensure consistent progress.
* Facilitate full access to the curriculum, adapting materials and strategies as required.
* Encourage and nurture the pupil's independence across all aspects of school life.
* Develop crucial life skills through engaging and practical activities.
* Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a holistic approach.
About You
* You possess demonstrable experience supporting young people with special educational needs, ideally within a secondary setting.
* An understanding of EHCPs and their practical implementation is essential.
* You are a patient, empathetic, and resilient individual, capable of building strong rapport.
* Excellent communication skills are vital for effective collaboration with students and staff.
