We are seeking a dedicated ASD Support Assistant to join a flourishing school in the West Midlands, specialising in supporting secondary students on the autism spectrum. This vital role involves working within a specialist ASD setting, facilitating social communication, effectively managing sensory needs, and actively supporting students' access to the curriculum. We are looking for an individual ready to make an immediate impact, with opportunities available for long-term, short-term, daily supply, or permanent contracts.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to secondary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
* Facilitate and encourage effective social communication skills development.
* Implement strategies to manage and address individual sensory needs.
* Assist students in accessing and engaging with the curriculum across various subjects.
* Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
* Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure holistic support.
About You
* Possess a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs, particularly ASD.
* Have previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils in an SEN setting.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both students and colleagues.
* Exhibit patience, empathy, and a resilient approach to daily challenges.
* Be proactive and resourceful in adapting support strategies to individual requirements.
* Hold a commitment to continuous professional development in SEN/ASD support.
