1:1 SEN Support Assistant

A highly regarded school in Hertfordshire is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide tailored assistance to a secondary pupil with complex needs. This vital role involves supporting the pupil in accessing their curriculum, diligently following Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, and fostering essential independence and life skills. We are looking for individuals available for long-term, daily supply, or permanent contracts, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consistent, dedicated 1:1 support to a secondary pupil with complex needs.
* Implement and meticulously track progress against Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
* Facilitate the pupil's engagement with and access to the full secondary curriculum.
* Actively promote the development of crucial independence and self-help skills.
* Support the pupil in acquiring practical life skills for personal growth and future readiness.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure a holistic support approach.
About You
* Possess demonstrable experience supporting young people with complex Special Educational Needs, particularly within a secondary phase.
* Exhibit a genuine passion for making a positive difference in a pupil's educational journey.
* Understand the importance of EHCPs and their practical application in daily support.
* Show exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations.
* Be proactive, adaptable, and able to respond effectively to individual pupil needs.
* Communicate clearly and respectfully with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
