Teaching Assistant - Speech and Language Support

Location - Hemel Hempstead

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who specialises in Speech & Language to provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive. As part of being committed, you would take on a 1:1 role within the classroom and be the expertise in speech and language support to ensure the pupil is meeting their academic targets but also be supported emotionally.

Responsibilities:

As a Primary Teaching Assistant specialising in Speech and Language Support, you will play a crucial role in:

  • supporting the communication development and academic progress of pupils who require additional assistance in this area.
  • Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other support staff.
  • You will provide targeted support and intervention to help students overcome communication barriers and reach their full potential.
  • Provide one-to-one support to pupils with speech and language difficulties, including those with speech sound disorders, language delays, or specific language impairments.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning support Assistant with a focus on 1:1 support with speech and language difficulties in a Primary School Setting.
  • Knowledge of speech and language development and familiarity with a range of speech and language disorders and difficulties.
  • A genuine passion for the well-being and academic progression of the students.
  • DBS (on the update service)
