We are excited to be partnering with a highly regarded SEN school that specialises in providing exceptional education and support to children and young people aged 4 to 19 years. This school is dedicated to catering for students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social Communication difficulties, offering a nurturing and inclusive environment tailored to each student's needs.



The Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join the school's multidisciplinary team. This full-time role is crucial in supporting students' communication development, ensuring they achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to assess, diagnose, and implement effective therapy plans for students with ASD and Social Communication difficulties. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing the students' communication skills, fostering greater independence and social interaction.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify speech, language, and communication needs of students with ASD and Social Communication difficulties.
  • Develop, implement, and review individualised therapy plans, integrating them into the students' overall educational and developmental goals.
  • Provide one-on-one and group therapy sessions tailored to the specific needs of each student.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and other therapists to support the students' learning and communication development.
  • Engage with parents and carers, providing them with guidance and support to continue communication development at home.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress, adapting therapy plans as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of whole-school approaches to communication and interaction, ensuring best practices are maintained.
  • Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and students' progress, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with school policies.


Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children and young people with ASD and Social Communication difficulties is essential.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • DBS: An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service is mandatory.
  • Commitment: Dedication to working full-time during term time, with a genuine passion for supporting the development of young people with special educational needs.
