Job Vacancy: SEN Learning Support Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join an amazing SEN school team and support students with special educational needs. The role involves working closely with pupils aged 4-11 to ensure their well-being, learning progress, and overall development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend to pupils' personal needs, including social, health, hygiene, intimate care, first-aid, and welfare, in accordance with school policies.
  • Maintain high and realistic expectations for all pupils.
  • Provide administrative support to teachers, including photocopying, record-keeping, and creating symbols.
  • Assist in developing individual education plans (IEPs) and personal care programmes for students.
  • Supervise and provide both individual and group support for pupils with a wide range of special educational needs.
  • Offer effective, tailored feedback to pupils, supporting their progress and achievement.
  • Annotate pupil work to a high standard, in line with school requirements.
  • Use ICT in learning activities, helping pupils develop their skills and independence in using technology.
  • Apply curricular knowledge or experience to support pupils' learning.
  • Supervise whole classes in the short-term absence of a teacher.
  • Liaise with parents, families, and a range of professionals as directed by the teacher.
  • Take initiative to develop and implement actions that promote pupils' learning, progress, and achievement.
  • Supervise pupils during various activities and in different areas of the school, such as the hall, playground, and during lunch.
  • Carry out any additional reasonable duties as directed by the Head Teacher or Deputy Head Teacher.

Requirements:

  • Experience in working with and caring for children of the relevant age.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • SEN Experience is desired
  • Competence in using ICT to support teaching and learning.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Flexibility and initiative in handling tasks and challenges.
