Job Description: We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant educational community in Wolverhampton for a September 2024 start. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they receive the tailored assistance required to thrive academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, adapting teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles.
  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing specialized education plans and strategies designed to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.
  • Collaborate closely with SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) and other members of the school staff to develop and implement personalized learning goals and interventions.
  • Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and caregivers as necessary.
  • Assist with the implementation of sensory integration techniques and other therapeutic interventions as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs, preferably within a school setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the academic and social development of students with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and caregivers.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when faced with challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

Role Overview:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have special educational needs and disabilities, supporting their learning and ensuring they have the best possible educational experience. You will collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Requirements:

  • 6 months plus experience working in a UK Primary School.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (desirable).
  • Experience working with children with SEND, either in a school or similar setting.
  • A good understanding of various SEND conditions and strategies to support them.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEND on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, tailored to their individual needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons and activities, adapting materials and approaches as required.
  • Help students with personal care and mobility needs as necessary.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment, promoting inclusion and engagement.
