Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Location: Autism Resource Centre, Primary School, Oxford, UK

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: September 2024

About Us: We are working on behalf of a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Oxford, dedicated to providing exceptional support to pupils. Their Autism Resource Centre is a specialized unit within the school that caters to the unique needs of six children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join the team. The successful candidate will work closely with the staff to support the individual learning needs of pupils with autism, helping them to achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with ASD in both one-on-one and group settings.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of personalized learning activities.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, offering feedback and strategies for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism, is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) are preferred but not essential.
