About Us: Dunbar Education is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Maths Teacher to join a reputable Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Kettering. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

Job Description: As a Maths Teacher at our SEN school, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality education to pupils with a range of special educational needs. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement a therapeutic approach to support the emotional and educational needs of pupils with SEN.
  • Provide engaging and effective Maths lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
  • Assess and monitor pupils' progress, providing feedback and setting achievable goals.
  • Collaborate with SEN coordinators and other staff to create individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to inspire and motivate pupils.
  • Manage behaviour effectively through positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with pupils, providing guidance and support.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/carers to discuss pupils' progress and any concerns.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Identify and address learning barriers for pupils with SEN, using creative strategies to overcome these challenges.
  • Incorporate technology and interactive tools to enhance the learning experience.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment where every pupil feels valued and respected.
  • Support pupils in developing social skills and coping strategies.
  • Work with teaching assistants and support staff to provide comprehensive support to pupils.
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in the curriculum and SEN best practices.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, participating in extracurricular activities and school events.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working within a Special Educational Needs environment, particularly with pupils experiencing SEMH challenges.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to implement positive reinforcement strategies effectively.
  • A therapeutic approach to supporting pupils, with a focus on their emotional well-being.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Commitment to working fixed hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Must have a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
