Location: Primary School, Milton Keynes
Salary: £18,000 - £23,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2024

About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a family-founded, community-focused primary school in Milton Keynes. Led by a hands-on headteacher, supports small classes of 8-10 pupils with SEMH, ASD and ADHD, presenting behaviour challenges. As an HLTA, you will assist in lesson planning, support students with special educational needs and manage challenging behaviour with patience and understanding. The position is permanent and strong SEN experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons, including preparing materials and resources.
  • Work one-on-one or with small groups of pupils to provide additional academic support.
  • Assist in assessing and tracking pupil progress.
  • Implement strategies to support students with special educational needs.
  • Provide pastoral care, manage behaviour and encourage positive interactions among pupils.
  • Contribute to the development of the school's curriculum and policies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain effective communication and teamwork.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months of experience as a teaching assistant in a UK primary school.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and Key Stage requirements.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong SEN experience and access to a car for commuting.
