Job Description: As a Design Technology Tutor, you'll play a crucial role in delivering an inspiring curriculum that fosters progress, enjoyment, and achievement for all students. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Planning and teaching clear, high-quality engineering lessons to support pupils in making good or outstanding progress, embedding key concepts in their long-term memory.
- Setting clear targets for pupils' learning, taking into account individual differences and prior attainment.
- Having a comprehensive understanding of, and planning to meet, the special educational needs of pupils.
- Developing and maintaining expert knowledge in the subject/s taught.
- Ensuring all pupils understand key concepts, effectively checking understanding, and correcting misunderstandings.
- Assessing pupil work and progress, providing regular feedback, and using this to continuously inform teaching.
- Prioritising reading to develop pupils' fluency, confidence, and enjoyment.
- Planning and sequencing learning towards cumulatively sufficient knowledge and meaningful accreditation.
- Building learning towards an end point that leads into the next stage of education, training, or employment.
- Reporting on pupil progress in line with school policy.
- Maintaining a stimulating, engaging, and safe learning environment conducive to learning.
- Managing behaviour positively in line with school policy.
- Undertaking pastoral and support roles as required.
- Attending school events as required.
- Contributing to the wider life of the school, including whole-school routines, paperwork, and duties.
- Taking responsibility for your own professional development and engaging with performance management activities.
- Working with pupils across school sites and at outreach venues as required, including transporting pupils in your own vehicle when necessary.
Requirements: To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Possession of an up-to-date DBS check on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Previous experience working with SEN needs, particularly in a teaching capacity.
- Comprehensive understanding of positive behaviour management strategies.
- Proficiency in planning and delivering effective lessons.
Additional Information:
- Full-time position; part-time candidates will not be considered.
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, term time only.
- Location: Northampton.
