Position : Physical Education Teacher (PE) - Specialised SEN

Location: Milton Keynes, UK

Salary: £150 - £180 per day, based on experience

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: October 2024

About the Position:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Teacher of Physical Education to join our distinctive SEN provision dedicated to supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role offers a fulfilling and challenging opportunity to inspire students to develop a passion for sports and fitness while benefiting from a compassionate and understanding approach to learning. This contracted position includes scheduled days off throughout the year, although traditional term breaks are not applicable.

Role Summary:

As a Teacher of PE, you will play an essential role within a dynamic team committed to assisting students facing significant challenges in their educational journey. Our setting is designed to be nurturing and structured, focusing on the holistic development of each learner. Your safety and well-being are prioritised, and you will collaborate with a team that ensures no additional work is expected beyond school hours. You will be working with students aged 11 to 17 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Physical Education lessons tailored to students with SEN needs across various age groups and abilities.
  • Promote physical activity and well-being within the school community, fostering a love for sports and fitness.
  • Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and personalised support to encourage growth.
  • Create a positive learning environment that nurtures teamwork, discipline, and motivation among students.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including sports teams and school events, to enrich student experiences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the PE curriculum is cohesive, inclusive, and reflective of best practices.

Requirements:

  • Experience teaching Physical Education, particularly to students with SEN needs, is preferred.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable, though not mandatory for candidates with relevant experience.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (if applying for a Temp to Perm position).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, along with a non-judgmental teaching approach.
  • A genuine passion for promoting physical fitness and well-being among young people, with the ability to inspire and engage students in various sports and activities.
