Dunbar Education is working closely with a Secondary SEN Provision in Milton Keynes, and we are seeking a Construction/DT Technician to support the department in a dynamic, challenging, and rewarding environment.
Role Overview: As a Construction/DT Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting both the Construction and Design Technology (DT) teachers. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the preparation and delivery of practical lessons, ensuring materials and resources are ready, and offering hands-on support during lessons. You will also work closely with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as behavioural challenges, so an understanding or previous experience in this area is highly beneficial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Construction and DT teachers with lesson planning and preparation by organising and setting up tools, materials, and equipment.
- Supporting teachers during lessons by providing technical assistance and supervision during practical activities.
- Ordering and maintaining stock of materials, ensuring all necessary supplies are available for upcoming lessons.
- Offering classroom support during practical sessions, helping students with tasks and ensuring the safe use of equipment.
- Promoting a safe and supportive learning environment, with attention to students' individual needs.
Working Hours:
- 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (hours are non-negotiable).
- Flexibility on the number of days worked per week can be negotiated.
Requirements:
- Previous experience or a good understanding of working with students with SEMH needs and behavioural challenges is beneficial.
- Ability to work closely with teachers to support the delivery of engaging and effective practical lessons.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
