We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our outstanding team at a Primary School in Daventry,Northampton. In this role, you'll be working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with low-functioning Autism. The child is calm and non-verbal so you'll focus on helping with communication. You'll also be leading group activities aimed at boosting children's numeracy and literacy levels.

This school is a supportive and experienced senior leadership team. This role provides a unique and rewarding challenge for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support and assistance to a pupil with low funtioning Autism needs, focusing on encouraging communication and assisting with emotional regulation.
  • Assisting with the personal care and well-being of the pupils as required.
  • Utilising different methods to provide a positive and engaging environment.
  • Communicating effectively to provide regular feedback to teachers and parents .

Requirements:

  • At least six months of SEN experience in the UK, particularly in behaviour support.
  • Child enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) are preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN support.
