1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Slough
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties?
We are working on behalf of a dynamic and nurturing special school in Slough, dedicated to supporting primary-aged pupils (4-11 years) with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCP). The mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are currently seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated team and support a child with specific SEMH needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored, 1:1 support to a designated pupil, adapting strategies to meet their unique needs.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to implement and review the child's EHCP targets.
- Foster a nurturing and structured learning environment to help the child engage with the curriculum and develop key skills.
- Support the child's emotional well-being, promoting positive relationships and building self-esteem.
- Assist with managing challenging behavior in line with the school's policies and behavior support plans.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews.
About You:
We're looking for someone with:
- A genuine passion for working with children with SEMH difficulties.
- Experience in supporting children with additional needs, preferably within an educational setting.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills to build relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to the pupil's evolving needs.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or equivalent.
- Training or experience in managing challenging behaviors (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA).
