1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting a pupil with special educational needs, helping them navigate their learning journey with confidence and care. What You'll Do: In this role, you'll work closely with one pupil, tailoring your support to meet their unique needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one assistance to a pupil with special educational needs, helping them engage with lessons and activities throughout the school day.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement tailored learning strategies and adapt materials to suit the pupil's needs.
  • Supporting the pupil's social and emotional development, fostering their independence and confidence in a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Assisting in managing any specific behavioural needs, ensuring the pupil is fully supported both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Monitoring and recording the pupil's progress, and regularly providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers to celebrate achievements and address any areas of concern.

Days & Hours:

  • This role is 5 days a week, during term time only.
  • Working hours are typically from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, ensuring a steady presence for the pupil throughout the school day.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, are preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil, teachers, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and a real passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude to meet the changing needs of the pupil and the school.
