A well-established primary school is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide focused assistance to a pupil with complex needs, which may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, or sensory impairments. This pivotal role involves fostering a strong rapport with the pupil and supporting their learning journey within a nurturing environment. We offer flexible contract options including long-term, daily supply, and permanent positions, with a competitive daily rate ranging from £85 to £110, for an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil with complex special educational needs.
* Build and maintain a strong, positive rapport, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
* Effectively implement and monitor targets outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Collaborate closely with external therapists and specialists to integrate their strategies into daily support.
* Assist in adapting learning materials and activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil.
* Document progress and contribute to reviews, providing valuable insights into the pupil's development.
About You
* Possess significant experience working with children with complex special educational needs, ideally in a primary setting.
* Demonstrate a solid understanding of conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* Exhibit exceptional patience, resilience, and a deeply empathetic approach to pupil support.
* Hold strong communication skills, enabling effective liaison with pupils, staff, and external professionals.
* Be proactive in developing strategies to engage and motivate pupils to achieve their potential.
* Show a commitment to continuous professional development and best practice in SEN support.
