This is an exciting opportunity within a flourishing school in Reading, Berkshire, for a dedicated individual to join our specialist provision. We are actively seeking an empathetic Teaching Assistant to provide vital support to secondary pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This crucial SEN Support role focuses on fostering a positive learning environment and assisting with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and the successful reintegration of pupils into their educational journey. We are open to discussing various contract types, including long-term, daily supply, short-term, or even a permanent placement, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consistent, tailored support to secondary pupils experiencing SEMH needs.
* Implement effective strategies for behaviour support and emotional regulation within the provision.
* Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to ensure pupil progress and well-being.
* Assist in creating an inclusive and nurturing environment that promotes engagement and learning.
* Facilitate the successful reintegration of pupils back into their classroom settings.
* Contribute to the ongoing assessment and monitoring of individual pupil development.
About You
* You possess a genuine passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges.
* Previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils, particularly within an SEN setting, is highly desirable.
* You demonstrate excellent communication skills, enabling effective interaction with pupils, staff, and parents.
* A resilient and patient approach is essential when navigating complex behavioural needs.
* You are proactive in developing positive relationships and building trust with pupils.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is paramount.
