A progressive school in North London is seeking an exceptional SEMH Teacher to join their dedicated primary phase team. This vital role involves supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, fostering a nurturing and structured learning environment. You will be instrumental in building therapeutic relationships, effectively managing challenging behaviour, and designing engaging lessons tailored to individual pupil needs. Various contract options are available, including long-term, daily supply, and permanent positions, providing flexibility for the right candidate to start as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver a broad and balanced primary curriculum, adapting content for SEMH needs.
* Establish and maintain strong therapeutic relationships with pupils, promoting trust and engagement.
* Implement effective strategies for managing challenging behaviour in a supportive and consistent manner.
* Design and deliver highly engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and emotional needs.
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other professionals to ensure comprehensive pupil support.
* Monitor and assess pupil progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and contributing to EHCP reviews.
About You
* Possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a commitment to continuous professional development.
* Demonstrate proven experience working with primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, ideally within a specialist setting or PRU.
* Exhibit excellent behaviour management skills, coupled with a patient and empathetic approach.
* Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils with complex needs to achieve their full potential.
* Be adept at building positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues alike.
* Applications are welcomed from Early Career Teachers (ECTs), as well as those on Main Pay Scale (MPS) or Upper Pay Scale (UPS).
