A forward-thinking school is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team, working within a specialist provision for secondary pupils. This vital role involves providing crucial support to young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, fostering a positive learning environment and assisting with their educational journey. We are looking for individuals available for a variety of contract types, including long-term, daily supply, short-term, or permanent positions, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to secondary pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
* Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote a calm and productive learning atmosphere.
* Assist pupils in developing emotional regulation skills and resilience.
* Support the reintegration of pupils into mainstream learning where appropriate.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff to differentiate learning materials and activities.
* Record and report on pupil progress and engagement, contributing to individual learning plans.
About You
* You possess a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs.
* Experience working with secondary-aged pupils in an SEN environment is highly desirable.
* An empathetic and patient approach, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* You are resilient, resourceful, and capable of managing challenging situations effectively.
* A commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging educational setting.
* Ability to work autonomously and as a valued member of a dedicated team.
