About the Role
Are you ready to make a profound difference within a dynamic secondary environment? An innovative school is seeking a dedicated ASD Support Assistant to join their specialist setting. This challenging yet incredibly rewarding role involves providing tailored support to secondary students on the autism spectrum, empowering them to thrive academically and socially. You will be instrumental in fostering their independence, facilitating effective social communication, expertly managing sensory needs, and ensuring full access to the curriculum. We are looking for individuals available for a range of contract types, including long-term, daily supply, short-term, or permanent positions, starting as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide bespoke, person-centred support to secondary students on the autism spectrum.
* Implement strategies to facilitate meaningful social communication and interaction.
* Proactively manage and respond to students' sensory needs within the learning environment.
* Assist students in navigating and fully accessing the secondary curriculum across various subjects.
* Collaborate closely with teaching staff to develop and adapt learning materials.
* Foster a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere that promotes student well-being and growth.

About You
* Possess a genuine passion for supporting young people with special educational needs, particularly autism.
* Demonstrate previous experience working with secondary-aged students on the autism spectrum.
* Exhibit exceptional patience, empathy, and understanding in challenging situations.
* Skilled in adapting communication styles to meet diverse individual needs.
* Capable of working autonomously and as an integral part of a supportive team.
* Committed to continuous professional development within the field of SEN.
