This challenging yet incredibly rewarding role involves working within a specialist SEN primary school environment, primarily providing bespoke 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You will be instrumental in nurturing the development of children facing complex learning needs, including those with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and speech and language difficulties, fostering their growth and independence every day.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide targeted one-to-one assistance to primary pupils, adapting strategies to individual learning styles.
* Facilitate engaging small group activities designed to build academic and social skills.
* Effectively implement individual EHCP targets, meticulously tracking progress and achievements.
* Support the development of communication and social interaction skills among pupils with diverse needs.
* Champion positive behaviour strategies, creating a secure and encouraging learning atmosphere.
* Collaborate closely with class teachers and external therapists to ensure a holistic support approach.
About You
* Demonstrable experience supporting children with complex Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, or speech and language challenges.
* A comprehensive understanding of EHCPs and their practical application in a primary setting.
* Possess exceptional patience, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to pupil wellbeing.
* An outstanding communicator, capable of building rapport with pupils, staff, and parents alike.
