A well-established school in the South East is seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated team. This fulfilling role involves providing essential support to secondary-aged pupils with complex needs within a specialist SEN provision. You will be instrumental in assisting with the delivery of an adapted curriculum, fostering an environment where young people can thrive and actively promoting their independence. We are looking for an individual ready for an immediate start, with contract options ranging from daily supply and short-term to long-term or permanent roles.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to secondary-aged pupils with complex Special Educational Needs, both individually and in small groups.
* Assist class teachers in the planning and delivery of an adapted curriculum, ensuring accessibility for all learners.
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging pupil engagement and participation.
* Implement strategies to promote pupil independence, self-help skills, and social development.
* Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to regular assessments and reviews.
* Support pupils with their personal care needs where appropriate, maintaining dignity and respect.
About You
* You possess a genuine passion for supporting young people with Special Educational Needs.
* You have prior experience working with secondary-aged pupils, ideally within an SEN setting or with complex needs.
* You demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
* You are patient, resilient, and adaptable, able to respond effectively to varying pupil needs and situations.
* You are a proactive team player, eager to contribute to a collaborative and supportive school community.
