A well-established school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate ASD Support Assistant to join their specialist provision for primary pupils. This vital role involves providing tailored support to young learners on the autism spectrum, fostering an inclusive and nurturing educational environment. You will be instrumental in implementing structured routines, sensory strategies, and effective communication support to ensure every child can thrive. We have various contract options available, including daily supply, short-term, long-term, and permanent positions, with an immediate start for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated 1:1 and small group support to primary pupils with ASD.
* Implement individualised structured routines and visual aids to promote predictability and learning.
* Assist with the development and application of sensory strategies to support pupil regulation.
* Facilitate effective communication using a range of appropriate methods for pupils on the autism spectrum.
* Work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCo to support pupil progress and well-being.
* Help create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment for all pupils within the specialist provision.
About You
* Possess a genuine passion for supporting primary-aged pupils with special educational needs.
* Demonstrate an understanding of autism spectrum conditions and best practices for support.
* Exhibit exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience in a dynamic educational setting.
* Be proactive, adaptable, and a strong team player, eager to contribute positively to the school community.
* Hold relevant experience working with children, preferably within an SEN or primary school environment.
* Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all young learners.
