ASD Support Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive ASD Support Assistant to work with secondary-aged pupils on the autism spectrum within a specialist SEN setting in Bedfordshire. This role offers flexible contract options, including long-term, short-term, daily supply, and permanent positions, with competitive daily rates ranging from £90 to £115, commencing as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Facilitate effective social communication for students on the autism spectrum.
* Proactively manage and respond to individual sensory needs within the learning environment.
* Support students in accessing the secondary curriculum and achieving their educational goals.
* Assist with the implementation of individualised education and support plans.
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere, promoting student independence.
* Collaborate closely with class teachers and specialist staff to ensure holistic student development.
About You
* Demonstrable experience working with young people on the autism spectrum, ideally within a secondary setting.
* A genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships.
* Ability to be proactive, adaptable, and resourceful in a dynamic educational environment.
* Understanding of strategies to manage sensory processing differences and promote emotional regulation.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.
