A progressive school is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide vital support to primary pupils within a specialist Social, Emotional, and Mental Health setting. Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to primary pupils with identified SEMH needs, both individually and in small groups.
* Implement effective de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours and promote a calm atmosphere.
* Mentor pupils, encouraging the development of positive social skills and emotional regulation strategies.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, understanding their unique backgrounds and motivations.
* Assist in the delivery of engaging classroom activities and personalised learning plans.
* Collaborate closely with class teachers and other professionals to ensure a cohesive support system.
About You
* You possess previous experience supporting children or young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges.
* You demonstrate a compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to working with vulnerable pupils.
* You exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of connecting effectively with diverse individuals.
* You are proficient in applying effective de-escalation strategies in potentially challenging situations.
* You show a strong commitment to promoting positive behaviour and fostering personal development.
* You are a proactive team player, adaptable to changing needs within a dynamic educational environment.
