1:1 SEN Support Assistant

A forward-thinking school in Bedfordshire is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide crucial, individualised assistance to a primary-aged pupil. This challenging yet profoundly rewarding role involves working closely with a child experiencing complex needs, including ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairment. You will be instrumental in fostering a nurturing environment, building strong rapport, and championing the pupil's holistic development through personalised strategies. We are considering candidates for long-term, daily supply, or permanent contracts, with an immediate start available for the right professional offering a competitive daily rate of £85 to £110.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver highly personalised 1:1 support, directly addressing the unique learning and developmental needs of a primary pupil.
* Cultivate a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil, fostering an environment of safety, understanding, and encouragement.
* Effectively translate and implement targets outlined within the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Work collaboratively with external therapists and specialists, integrating their recommendations into daily support strategies.
* Monitor and accurately record pupil progress, providing insightful feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
* Adapt resources and activities to ensure accessibility and engagement for a pupil with diverse learning styles and sensory requirements.
About You
* You possess proven experience supporting pupils with complex Special Educational Needs, such as ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairments.
* Your natural ability to build meaningful rapport allows you to connect effectively with children, understanding their individual communication styles.
* You demonstrate a solid understanding of EHCPs and are skilled at translating objectives into practical, impactful support.
* An empathetic and patient approach defines your professional interactions, particularly when navigating challenging situations.
* You are a proactive and adaptable individual, capable of responding swiftly to evolving pupil needs and learning environments.
